Built by a pilot, for pilots
AeroTech Test was created by Doug Frix — a former airline and Civil Air Patrol search-and-rescue pilot — to build a flight school that is safe, flexible, and genuinely affordable.
Doug started flying in 1986 and went on to fly the line for American Eagle and Mesa Airlines on domestic and international trips. He also flew as a Mission Pilot and Instructor Pilot for the Civil Air Patrol. In 2012 he left airline flying to focus full-time on a better way to teach people to fly — both safely and affordably.
He has been instructing since 2007, and his approach is simple: training should be individual, honest, and fun. "If you’re not having fun, you’re not learning" is a motto every lesson is built around. His safety record is perfect, and every student who has completed his program has passed their required tests to become a pilot, commercial pilot, or instructor.
Beyond flight training, the school flies scenic tours over the Wasatch Front, offers aerial photography, aircraft rental, and in-house maintenance. Whether you are chasing a Private Pilot certificate, an airline career, or simply the freedom of flight, there is a place for you here.
“Help students become capable, confident pilots in an environment that feels disciplined, modern, and personal.”
