Our team

The people in the right seat

AeroTech Test is family-run and instructor-led. Our founder and instructors have flown in the real world — airline and Civil Air Patrol time among them — and teach one-on-one, because getting you flying safely is the job, not a stepping stone.

Doug Frix

Doug Frix

Owner & Chief Flight Instructor

CFI · CFII · MEIFormer airline & CAP pilot

Doug started flying in 1986 and flew as an airline pilot for American Eagle and Mesa Airlines. A member of the Civil Air Patrol, he has flown as a Mission Pilot and Instructor Pilot for search-and-rescue missions.

He has been teaching flying since 2007 and left airline flying in 2012 to build a better program for teaching pilots to fly safely and affordably. His safety record is perfect, and every student who has finished his program has passed their check ride.

What to expect from us

The standard behind
every lesson

Safety, always first

Strict FAA standards in the air and on the maintenance log — the responsibility of flight, taken seriously from lesson one.

One-on-one attention

You train with the same instructor from Discovery Flight to checkride — they know your name, your goals, and exactly where you are.

Real-world experience

Our instructors have flown in the real world — airline and Civil Air Patrol time among them — and bring that judgment to every lesson.
